Overturned Truck On Highway 280 Spills Diesel Fuel

An accident on Highway 280 involving a lumber truck has resulted in more than 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled in the area.

HOOVER, AL — An overturned truck involved in an accident on Highway 280 Wednesday caused a spill of more than 50 gallons of diesel fuel in Hoover.

Hoover fire units responded to the intersection of Highway 280 and Greenhill Parkway just before 7 p.m. Police said an 18-wheeler carrying lumber overturned and ruptured one fuel tank spilling approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel.

One person with minor injuries was transported to the hospital by Cahaba Valley Fire. Hoover Hazmat 2 responded to contain the fuel, and Shelby County EMA remained on the scene to supervise the cleanup.
