Repairs On I-459 Will Cause Lane Closures This Weekend

The Alabama Department of Transportation will be repairing parts of Interstate 459 in the Hoover area this weekend, causing lane closures.

HOOVER, AL - Road work on Interstate 459 this weekend will cause lane closures on the interstate in the Hoover area, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.

Beginning at approximately 7 p.m., Friday, May 4, weather permitting, ALDOT will make concrete pavement repairs on I-459 Southbound in the outside (right) lane, between the AL 38/US 280 Interchange (Exit 19) and the Acton Road Interchange (Exit 17) in Hoover.

All travel lanes will be re-opened to traffic no later than 5 a.m., Monday, May 7, said a statement by ALDOT. The lanes will be closed in the area of repairs for the time needed to remove and replace the damaged concrete and to allow a minimum of 14 hours of curing time after the repairs are made.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
