Suspect In Hoover Robbery Shot By Police In Blount County

A suspect in a robbery Monday at a Hoover BBVA bank branch is the same man who was shot and killed by police in Blount County Tuesday.

BLOUNT COUNTY, AL — A suspect in a robbery at a Hoover BBVA bank branch has been identified as Timothy James Hogland, a homicide suspect who led police on a chase on I-65 Tuesday who was shot and killed by police in Blount County.

Hoover police said Hogland, a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Graysville on May 13, was located by Adamsville officers in northern Jefferson County Tuesday morning, and led multiple law enforcement agencies on a pursuit on I-65.

Alabama State Troopers, Graysville police, Adamsville police, Warrior police, and the Blount County Sheriff’s Office were all involved in the pursuit, and police said Hogland attempted to carjack a woman before pointing his gun toward law enforcement officials, who then returned fire.

The shooting occurred just after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Alabama 160 and Skyline Drive off I-65 at the Hayden exit. Hogland was pronounced dead on the scene.
