The Huntsville Police Department charged an 18-year-old with Capital Murder on Friday, June 11, for the shooting death of Jaylen King, 23.

Officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Bob Wallace Avenue around 11 a.m. on Friday, May 7, after receiving a call about a person who appeared to be asleep in their vehicle. When officers arrived, they attempted to wake the person, later identified as King, and found he was suffering from a gunshot wound(s).

King was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe the shooting was drug-related.

With this arrest, there are no unsolved criminal homicides for 2021.

The suspect’s identity is being withheld due to his age. No further information is available as the shooting is under investigation.
