- The former Automatic SMP plant in Decatur will be closing. The company was acquired by Stanley Black & Decker in 2018 and they will be moving the manufacturing to California. The plant in Decatur has been open since 1948 and currently has 90 employees. (Yahoo)
- In the past week, Madison County has had five wrecks with fatalities. According to the Madison County Coroner, Tyler Berryhill, this is a significant increase in fatal wrecks. Three involved pedestrians being hit by vehicles and the other two were fatalities inside the vehicle. (WHNT)
- Two former Huntsville High School baseball teammates will face each other in the College World Series championship matchup after several players on North Carolina State tested positive for COVID-19. Christian MacLeod will be pitching for Mississippi State in game one to play against Javier Vaz and his team, Vanderbilt. The finals will be Monday and Tuesday with a third game Wednesday if it becomes necessary. (WAAY)
- Over the weekend, there were a number of fish found dead at Big Spring Park. According to the City of Huntsville, this is due to the repairs being done on a storm culvert on Church Street requiring a bypass pump. (WHNT)
- The new Athens Elementary building that will house the iAcademy is in the works, and the board expects to announce the low bidders for the subcontracts at their next meeting scheduled for July 22. It will be a one-story building that spans around 66,000 square feet and hold 600 students. (News Courier)
