Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:
- Huntsville Executive Airport and Scottsboro Municipal Airport to allow them to upgrade infrastructure. There were eight airports chosen to split over $8 million. Huntsville received over $1.7 million and Scottsboro was given $94,906. (WZDX)
- Tuesday morning, a joint groundbreaking was held for four new restaurants and a rooftop bar that are hitting Town Madison by spring of 2022. Slim Chickens and Outback are expected to be finished by the end of winter and by the end of spring, we can expect to see Five Guys, Super Chix and the rooftop bar, Prohibition at Town Madison. - Riverton Intermediate School in the Madison County School System got a new principal this week! Brian Givens is coming back to the county system, where he started his teaching career, from Madison City Schools. (WAFF)
- Huntsville Animal Services is overwhelmed this week with animals. They have over 130 pets right now and are unable to keep up with the high demands. Most adult animals are between $10-$35 right now. If you have recently lost a pet, check with HAS to make sure it hasn’t ended up there and if you're able to foster or adopt, now is the time! - July is Parks and Recreation Month, and Huntsville is ready to celebrate! The city has decided to use “Get out and play” as the theme this year and will be celebrated all month with events and activities. (WHNT)
