Here are the top five stories in Huntsville today:

  1. Huntsville is being considered by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a location to land commercial space vehicles. The Huntsville Airport worked with Sierra Space in Nevada to put together a proposal where spacecraft would be launched from another location and would land on a runway Huntsville already has.   2. The Alabama chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association held “The Longest Game,” as part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s “The Longest Day.” The hockey game was set to last 8-12 hours and will be the longest hockey game in the history of the state of Alabama. They raised $9535. (Alzheimer’s Association)
  3. Five baseball players from the Huntsville area are competing in the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. Havier Vas, Christian MacLeod, and Drew Talley are alums of Huntsville High School, Bob Jones has Mitchell Daly, and Jordan Beck is from Hazel Green. The final game will either be Tuesday, June 29 or Wednesday, June 30. (WAAY)
  4. Head coach Cody Gross at Athens High School has added three new coaches to his team. Chris Massaro is a former strength and conditioning coach from LSU, Will Furlong was a coach in the German Football League, and Ervin Jackson joined from UWA. (Yahoo)
  5. Harrison Brothers Hardware’s latest art exhibit is “Rooted in History.” The show is based in folk art traditions in Alabama. It is a partnership between the Historic Huntsville Society and John “Jahni” Moore. (Huntsville)
