Here are the top stories today in Huntsville:

  1. Huntsville City Council voted to move general public comments to the end of meetings after a vote that was not unanimous and was highly contested by the public, who worry the move will leave their voices unheard. (WAFF)
  2. According to the City of Huntsville’s pay records, William Darby is still on sick leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). He is receiving about $2100 every two weeks before taxes. (Telegraph Herald)
  3. Huntsville city councilman Bill Kling proposed a budget increase for road resurfacing and sweeping. He wants to allocate $20 million, which would allow for resurfacing of roads that really need it, as well as expanding street sweeping, which is something city council members hear about frequently from the community. (WAFF)
  4. MidCity District has officially joined the purple cup club! It was named an Arts and Entertainment district, and just like Campus 805, the purple cup will allow you to enjoy an adult beverage and walk around the area. (WAFF)
  5. Huntsville Hospital is hosting a vaccine clinic at Mae Jemison High School! The first dose clinic will be on July 13 from 1-3 p.m. and the second dose will be August 3 at the same time. (WHNT)
