  1. In Albertville, two were shot and two were injured during a shooting at the Mueller Company plant. The shooter was Andreas Deon Horton, an employee at the plant. He was later found in the vehicle he fled the scene in, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. (USA Today)
  2. The Madison City Council approved the contract of the new police chief, John Gandy. He will officially take the position on July 14, and his starting salary is $115,000, which Mayor Finley says is a competitive salary. (WHNT)
  3. The microchip shortage is affecting Huntsville businesses. Chris Swain of Siano Appliances says that the shortage is causing major delays in how long it takes to get products shipped to the customer. Swain expects that prices will rise as they did with lumber, and waiting lists will continue to grow until customers are waiting until next year. (WAAY)
  4. Bethany Stoots, a junior at Bob Jones, has written a book about diversity called, “Lilly’s Day Coping with Autism.” Stoots has autism and was treated differently growing up and had daily struggles dealing with her diagnosis, much like the protagonist. The book earned Stoots the Gold Award in Girl Scouts. (Madison Record)
  5. Katie Bosarge has joined the South Huntsville Main Business Association as the new executive director. Bosarge is from South Huntsville and has a background in PR and marketing. She is excited to play a part in such an important time helping her hometown grow. (Huntsville)
