Here are the top stories in Huntsville today:

  1. The Redstone Federal Credit Union has donated $2 million to help the Federal Credit Union. This money will help offset some of the costs of four new locations. (WAFF)
  2. Kailyn Grant, a dual enrollment student at UAH and junior at Bob Jones, won third place in the material science category at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair 2021. Grant’s research looked at how to avoid chemotherapy side effects by a different delivery method. (Patch)
  3. Dr. Ali Hassoun, an infectious disease specialist in Huntsville, has spoken about Pfizer’s push to have their COVID-19 booster shot approved for use. He said that while individuals will need a booster to keep their immunity to the virus as high as possible, they will need multiple studies before he feels that it should be approved. However, he said that with Alabama having such a low vaccination rate, we are at a higher risk of mutations forming and spreading. (WHNT)
  4. Although Kids to Love started out to be a nonprofit that has supported foster families, it has now been turned into an agency that will be part of licensing foster families and placing children. This makes the Madison County organization one of only seven of its kind in Alabama. (WAAY)
  5. At Thursday’s city council meeting, Huntsville council members voted to approve a second bridge to connect Brahan Spring Park and John Hunt Park. This will allow patrons to easily go from one park to the other easily and will give people a longer stretch to ride bikes or walk. (WHNT)
