Mobile Police are investigating the fatal fire on Dr. Thomas Avenue North as a homicide. A man and woman were found burned to death inside their residence. Â

Preliminary autopsy results indicate that the man had been shot multiple times, which was determined to be his cause of death. The cause of death for the woman is pending toxicology results. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Â
The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at approximately 6:23 p.m. Mobile Police and Mobile Fire-Rescue responded to the 700 block of Dr. Thomas Avenue North in reference to multiple shots fired and a report that the residence was on fire. Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames.

After Mobile Fire-Rescue extinguished the house fire, they found two deceased people inside. They were identified as Tony Lewis, 62, and Lelia Lewis, 68. Â
Investigators continue to search for the person(s) responsible for the death of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 251-208-7211. Â
