MOBILE, AL — Mobile police have issued a warrant for the arrest of NBA star center DeMarcus Cousins on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge for allegedly threatening to shoot his former girlfriend, according to the department.

"An arrest warrant has been issued out to Cousins," Charlette Solis, a spokeswoman for the Mobile Police Department, said in a statement. "This is a misdemeanor charge. It is up to (Cousins) to turn himself in."

The ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his 7-year-old son, filed a police report alleging Cousins threatened to "put a bullet in your (expletive) head.” The phone conversation was recorded by Cousins’ ex-girlfriend, and a copy was provided to the Mobile Police department and reported by TMZ.

On the audio aired by TMZ, the male caller is heard saying, "I'm gonna ask you this one more time before I take it to another level. ... Can I have my son here, please?"

When the woman responds no, the male caller says, "I'm gonna make sure I put a bullet in your (expletive) head."
