MOUNTAIN BROOK, AL - Mountain Brook has been long-known as one of the wealthiest cities in Alabama, if not in the entire country. The city has some of the highest property tax rates, the highest home values, and the median household income exceeds most municipalities in the entire Southeast. This has contributed to Mountain Brook having the best school system in the state, some of the lowest crime rates and a generally high quality of life. So, why would anyone not want to buy a home there?

The main answer is that the average price of a Mountain Brook home is roughly $630,000. This places the city in rare company in the state, and prevents the average family from having the means to move to the city.
