Arrests Made During Successful Child Predator Sting

Operation Standing Guard II was successful in identifying those in possession of child porn and identifying exploited children in the area.

Two Jefferson County men are charged with multiple counts of child pornography possession. These charges were made public by ALEA’s (State of Alabama Law Enforcement Agency) Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Monday evening. The arrests of Michael Glenn Rich, 56, of Birmingham, and Thomas Morrison Hart Jr., 46, of Adamsville were made during a five-day sting called Operation Standing Guard II. This operation was carried out by more than ten different agencies including the Pelham Police Department.

The cooperation of these law enforcement agencies led to carrying out multiple search warrants, the confiscation of electronic devices, identifying children who are currently being exploited via social media sites and opened new sexual assault cases. This five-day operation was a continuation of Operation Standing Guard which took place in May of this year. May’s operation resulted in the arrest of Marc Elliot Sussman, 61, of Mountain Brook along with four other suspects.
