Birmingham Bulls Begin Homestand Friday Night

The Birmingham Bulls hockey team will play three straight home games in the coming week.

PELHAM, AL - The Birmingham Bulls are home in Pelham Friday night, the first of three straight home games by the latest edition of the hockey team. Friday night's game against Peoria starts at 7:30 p.m. The Bulls play the Rivermen again at the Pelham Civic Complex Saturday night at 7 p.m.

On February 13, the Bulls host the Pensacola Ice Flyers at 7:30 p.m. Birmingham has posted a 10-20 record thus far this season.

The Bulls continue to draw impressive crowds in its first season under this particular ownership. Hockey has been in Birmingham since the 70s when the World Hockey Association formed and granted Birmingham a franchise. When the league merged with the NHL in 1978, Birmingham was left out of the mix, and dropped down to minor league status, becoming a farm team to the Minnesota North Stars (calling the team the Birmingham South Stars). When that team left town, the Bulls of the East Coast Hockey League came to town and stayed for almost a decade before moving to Atlantic City after the 2000-2001 season. The team returned this season and competes in the Southern Professional Hockey League.
