Builder Abandons Plans For Shelby County Subdivision
Harris Doyle Homes will not build Rushing Farms, a subdivision planned for Shelby County.
SHELBY COUNTY, AL — Plans to build a new subdivision in north Shelby County have been scrapped. The project, Rushing Farms, has faced opposition from members of the community nearby.
A Birmingham Business Journal report said Harris Doyle Homes had planned to build home this year at the intersection of Caldwell Mill Road and Indian Crest Drive.
The homebuilder had requested approval earlier this year for smaller lot sizes at the potential development, but that request, which was initially approved, faced opposition from nearby residents who advocated for larger lot requirements.

Now that the Rushing Farms development has been scrapped, the Shelby County Planning Commission on July 15 rezoned 63 acres that were targeted for the development back to E-1, which is a single-family estate designation that requires a 1-acre minimum lot size.
