A chlorine spill at a water pumping station led to a shelter in place order for residents of Indian Hills neighborhood

PELHAM, AL — A reported chlorine spill at a water pumping station that led to a shelter in place order for residents of Indian Hills neighborhood in Pelham has now been resolved. Pelham police worked with HAZMAT officials on the situation, and reported that the area is safe.

One person has been taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

As of 2:30 p.m., the leak has been stopped and contained, but Pelham police said traffic is still closed to the area while the crew moves their equipment.
