Elderly Woman Abused, Suspect Taken Into Custody
A man has been arrested after an elderly woman in his care was found half naked and covered in feces.
SHELBY COUNTY, AL - A man has been taken into custody after an elderly woman reportedly in his care was found half naked on the floor of her home covered in feces. David B. Ellis, 51, was taken into custody Monday and charged with one count of elderly abuse and neglect, which is a misdemeanor.
The woman was found May 8, according to a report by Alabama Media Group. Ellis allegedly left the woman on the bedroom floor, partially clothed and soiled, with her eyes swollen shut.
Ellis was booked into the Shelby County Jail Monday with bond set at $3,000. However, prosecutors were granted a no-bond for Ellis because the alleged crime happened while he was out on bond from an arrest earlier this month on drug possession charges.

In the drug case, Ellis’ bond was set at $5,000 and prosecutors noted a condition of that bond was to commit no new crimes.
