Football Player Among 13 Arrested In Prostitution Sting

Of the 13 men arrested in Shelby County in a prostitution sting was a player on the Birmingham Iron football team.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - A reverse prostitution sting in Shelby County this week resulted in the arrest of 13 men, one of whom is listed on the roster of the Birmingham Iron football team. The sting, dubbed Operation Close Out, Round 3, took place in North Shelby County.

Lawrence Okoye, 27, was one of the men arrested. He was listed on the Birmingham Iron roster as a defensive tackle. The Iron kicks off its inaugural season Sunday.

The operation, in partnership with the Hoover Police Department, is a continuation from September 20th, and October 18th, 2018, in which 20 total offenders were previously arrested.

Thirteen men were arrested and charged with the crime of Soliciting Prostitution. Those charged are identified as follows:

  • Brandon Bryant (46 YOA) of Pinson
  • Brandon Fitzgerald Green (36 YOA) of Texas
  • Domingo Hernandez (29 YOA) of Birmingham
  • Michael Jackson (32 YOA) of Leeds
  • Miquel Ledezma (44 YOA) of Alabaster
  • Kenneth McMillian (26 YOA) of Birmingham
  • Lawrence Okoye (27 YOA) of Homewood
  • James Perrin (50 YOA) of Birmingham
  • David Randolph Scott (65 YOA) of Adamsville
  • Charles Dewayne Smith (39 YOA) of Birmingham
  • James Witt (51 YOA) of Hoover
  • Linard Stanley Walker (32 YOA) of Bessemer

Also arrested during the operation was Jude Christopher Burke (39 YOA) of Houma, Louisiana, charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled (LSD), Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
