Gas Line Work On 261 Could Cause Traffic Issues

Spire is preparing to replace the gas line on Hwy 261 (Helena Rd) between Donohoo Auto and the Chadwick subdivision.

PELHAM, AL - Work on a gas line next month may cause intermittent traffic problems on Highway 261 in Pelham between Donohoo Auto and the Chadwick subdivision. The Pelham Police Department said motorists may want to find alternate routes during peak traffic times, although Spire has said work will not be done during rush hour.

For the rest of this week and the end of next week, workers will be surveying the work area, according to the Pelham PD. Construction on the new gas line will begin after the first of the year and should last about a month.

"We've been told work will NOT be done during rush hour," the Pelham PD said in a statement Wednesday. "We'll have officers in the area assisting with traffic control, as needed."
