Helena Man Arrested In Shelby County Shooting

HELENA, AL — A shooting on River Road Thursday resulted in the arrest of a 59-year-old Helena man. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office received a call just after 10 p.m. regarding the incident.

When deputies arrived, they located a victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound as well as blunt force trauma. The victim was airlifted to a local hospital.

Through the investigation, deputies learned that there was a verbal argument between the victim and the suspect, which escalated to the suspect shooting the victim. As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested Samuel Fred Guy.

Guy is being held in the Shelby County Jail charged with first degree assault, and his bond is set at $10,000.

The condition of the victim was not released.
