Helena Sweeps Opelika, Advances To Round 2 Of Baseball Playoffs
Helene High School advanced to the third round of the AHSAA baseball playoffs after a sweep of Opelika over the weekend.
HELENA, AL - The Helena High School baseball team took another step forward in defending its state championship with a sweep over Opelika over the weekend.
The Huskies relied on a nearly perfect defensive series, shutting out Opelika in both games, continuing their domination in the state playoffs. Helena has given up just one run in four playoff games thus far.
On top of strong pitching from Richard Fitts and Brooks Tolbert , the Huskies got run support from the bats of John Stephen Heacock and Josh Daugherty, among others. But offesne was not the highlight for Helena, as the Huskies defense has been virtually impenetrable throughout the playoffs.

Helena will play at Spanish Fort Friday at 5 p.m.
