Helicopter Aids In Capturing Suspect Who Eluded Deputies
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office used a helicopter to aid deputies in capturing 29-year-old Bobby Jack Berneir of Wilsonville.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was able to capture a suspect Wednesday who had temporarily eluded deputies, and used the aid of a helicopter to track down the suspect. The helicopter was crucial in locating 29-year-old Bobby Jack Berneir of Wilsonville, who was charged with Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations.
A report by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office said Bernier was later released from the Shelby County Jail on Thursday, February 14, 2019 after posting a $3,200 bond.

The SCSO said the use of the helicopter meant deputies were able to call off the vehicle pursuit, which can pose risks to other citizens on the road.
