Lay Lake Cleanup Set For April 15-21

Volunteers will convene to help clean up Lay Lake beginning this weekend.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - Volunteers will convene April 15 to help clean up Lay Lake, as part of the Renew Our Rivers initiative. Cleanups will take place in several locations during the week.

The week will conclude with the community cleanup at Beeswax Park Saturday, April 21, from 8 a.m. to noon, followed by a picnic lunch.

Volunteers for Renew Our Rivers, one of the Southeast’s largest river cleanup campaigns, have collected more than 15 million pounds of trash and debris since the program’s inception in 2000. This year, 30 cleanups are planned through November on the Alabama, Black Warrior, Cahaba, Chattahoochee, Coosa, Mobile and Tallapoosa rivers.
