Man Accused Of Attempted Drug Sales To Teens Has Trial Date Set
Man accused of selling synthetic marijuana to local high school students faces almost 10 charges. He will be in court early in 2018.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — Montevallo resident, Derrick Demetrius Reed, 31, will appear in court Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 for attempting to sell drugs to local high school students. Reed is facing nine total charges: five counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, one count of trafficking synthetic marijuana, one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, one count of first-degree possession of marijuana and one count of illegal possession of a firearm, according to The Pelham Reporter.
Reed had the intention of selling synthetic marijuana, which can be lethal, to students of Pelham High School, Thompson High School, Helena High School, Calera High School and Montevallo High School. Trafficking synthetic marijuana carries the maximum sentence of life imprisonment and is a Class A felony.
