Man Arrested In Alabaster On Multiple Sex Charges

Michael Kinsey, 52, of Alabaster was booked into the Shelby County Jail on February 12 and is being held on $85,000 bond.

ALABASTER, AL - The Alabaster Police Department has arrested Michael Kinsey, 52, of Michael Drive in Alabaster and charged him with two counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, two counts of Sodomy 2nd Degree, two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Child Less Than 12 Years Old, and one count of Rape 1st Degree.

The charges are a result of an investigation that started on January 27 when the Alabaster Police Department responded to a report of sexual abuse involving a juvenile.

“We will aggressively pursue and prosecute offenders to protect children.” Detective Josh Rauch said.

In addition to Kinsey's recent arrest, he was arrested in 2003 for indecent exposure.

In one statement from a victim it details that the victim and a friend were walking from another friend’s house when a man drove past the group and parked in his driveway. He reportedly parked his car, went to his porch, and began to masturbate.

Another statement from a victim said the suspect stared at the boys while he masturbated, court records show. The documents included another statement that said the victim stated the suspect has followed him before, several months ago.

Kinsey was booked into the Shelby County Jail on February 12 and is being held on $85,000 bond.
