Missing Child Alert: 7-Year-Old Found Safe
A child missing in Shelby County Monday afternoon was found safe and is back with his family.

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office reported Monday night that a 7-year-old boy who was missing in Sterrett has been located. The SCSO received the call about the boy at approximately 2:30 p.m. and a search was conducted using a helicopter and patrol vehicles.
The boy was located safe at approximately 6:30 p.m. He was evaluated by paramedics and is now with his family.
"The Shelby County Sheriff's Office would like to thank all of the outside agencies and organizations who either offered or provided assistance," the SCSO said in a statement. "These include Chelsea Fire & Rescue, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Vandiver Volunteer Fire Department, Chelsea COP, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Helena Police Department, Shelby County EMA, Shelby County Board of Education, Red Mountain Search Dog Association and Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. We also want to thank the countless citizen volunteers who responded to the area to provide assistance."

Sheriff Samaniego stated, "With all the bad stories out there, we are so glad to report one with a happy outcome. The outpouring of support we get from nearby public safety organizations and the public is overwhelming. I also appreciate the effort put forth by the men and women of the Sheriff's Office today. They always stand ready to provide Shelby County with the highest level of service possible and today was no different."
