Pelham Hosts Hockey's Version Of The Iron Bowl March 4

Alabama and Auburn will face each other in hockey at the Pelham Civic Complex March 4.

PELHAM, AL - Pelham will host hockey's version of the Iron Bowl next month, dubbed the "Iron Cup." Alabama and Auburn will face off - literally - March 4 at the Pelham Civic Complex at 2 p.m.

The University of Alabama's hockey team is currently 20-9-1, and has only lost one game this season at home. The Frozen Tide competes at the ACHA Division I level, whereas Auburn competes at a lower level with several other SEC teams, in the Southeastern Hockey Conference.

Alabama and Auburn met on the ice for the first time in the 2010-11 season. The inaugural games of what has become known as the Iron Cup took place on Jan. 14-16, 2010. Throughout the series, Alabama has outscored the Tigers 160-38 and has not lost in 17 games over six seasons.
