Pelham Man Identified As Body Found In Birmingham Creek

A dead body discovered in Village Creek in Birmingham has been identified as David Nicholas Brasher.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - A dead body discovered in Village Creek in Birmingham has been identified. Authorities say the deceased man is 39-year-old David Nicholas Brasher of Pelham.

The discovery was made about 10:30 a.m. Monday at the creek located just off Interstate 59/20 near 17th Avenue North. Police said someone picking up trash spotted the remains and called South Precinct police officers who responded to the scene. It was later determined to be in the East Precinct coverage area.

A report by Alabama Media Group said fingerprints were used to identify Brasher, although it has not been determined how long Brasher's body had been in the creek. Brasher had not been in communication with his family for a week.

Police said an autopsy showed no signs of foul play.
