Pelham Schools Awarded Robotics Grants

Students from Pelham High School and Pelham Park Middle School will have more opportunity to learn the field of robotics.

PELHAM, AL - Students from Pelham High School and Pelham Park Middle Schools were awarded robotics grants from the Alabama State Department of Education last week. The schools were among 244 schools across the state who received grants to launch and/or expand robotics education in the classroom.

At PHS, the grant will be used in computer science classes to purchase Lego Mindstorms. At PPMS, Automation and Robotics classes will purchase a VEX IQ competition robotics kit and competition playing field.

Teachers will add these engaging devices to the Digital Literacy and Computer Science curriculum for Pelham students.

The teachers who collaborated on the vision, writing, and submission of the grants are Mrs. Crain, Mrs. Tucker and Mr. Cobb (PHS), and Ms. Dixon and Mrs. Holland (PPMS).
