Shelby County Sheriff's Administrative Offices Closed Wednesday

SHELBY COUNTY, AL - Due to hazardous road conditions created by winter weather over the last 48 hours, the Shelby County Sheriff's Administrative Offices will be closed the remainder of the day Wednesday. Initially, the offices were going to delay opening until noon, but an announcement Wednesday morning revealed the road conditions are too hazardous to open for the day.

"Our administrative offices will be closed all day today due to last night's weather event," said a statement by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office at 10:30 Wednesday morning. "If the roadways clear this afternoon we will open at our regularly scheduled time tomorrow, but that decision will not be made until later this evening."

Icy roads have been reported throughout the area Wednesday, after snow and freezing temperatures caused dangerous patches of ice along major roadways. Several traffic accidents and road closures have been reported in Jefferson and Shelby counties.

This has no effect on calls for service and emergencies as all sworn deputies and Shelby County 911 employees are operating normally.
