Teen Drowns At Oak Mountain State Park

PELHAM, AL — A teenager drowned Monday while swimming at Oak Mountain State Park. The victim was found by divers after being under water for less than an hour.

The Shelby County Coroner confirms the victim was a 17-year-old boy from Guatemala. The boy was reportedly with a group of friends at the time of the incident.

Chief Tim Honeycutt said divers with Pelham Fire Department recovered the boy's body just after 4:00 p.m, according to a WVTM report.

The name of the victim has not been released.
