Aliceville Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Shooting Woman

Dewon Lathomas Mayhew, 30, was charged on Tuesday after shooting and seriously injuring a woman last month in Aliceville.

ALICEVILLE, AL — An Aliceville man is charged with attempted murder after prosecutors say he shot a woman during an altercation in June. Dewon Lathomas Mayhew, 30, is currently being held in the Pickens County Jail with bond set at $1 million after being formally charged on Tuesday.

24th Judicial Circuit’s District Attorney Andy Hamlin said the Aliceville Police Department and investigators from his office were called to a residence in the 600 block of Jasper Road at 8 a.m. June 20 on the initial report of a shooting.

Once on scene, police found that a woman had been shot and was seriously injured. She would survive the shooting after being transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Hamlin also said he asked for an elevated bond in the shooting due to the facts and circumstances surrounding the shooting.
