“Our annual Turkey Trot is a great family event, and for me it signifies the beginning of the holiday season,” said TTC President Helen Smith. “I’m so glad we have been able to move the race to a new location that allows for social distancing and for the tradition to continue.”
Turkey Trot participants are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Community Soup Bowl, with the goal of gathering 500 items.
“Many of our clients are homeless, unemployed, handicapped, single moms, veterans or those facing other social issues,” said Director of the Community Soup Bowl Susan Lavender. “We are currently serving approximately 300 plates per day. All food donations help us feed the hungry in our community.”
Canned and packaged food items can be dropped off at Wagner's RunWalk, located at 1800 McFarland Blvd E, Suite 424 in Tuscaloosa until Nov. 30, or on the day of the race.
