Fourth Of July Wreck Kills Two, Injures Three In Gordo

Two people were killed and several other people injured in a Sunday morning wreck in Pickens County.

GORDO, AL — Pickens County emergency officials say two people were killed and three people transported to receive medical treatment for their injuries following a two-vehicle wreck on Alabama Highway 159 early Sunday morning, roughly four miles north

Pickens County Ambulance Service says the call for the crash came in at approximately 6 a.m. and once on scene, paramedics then requested additional EMS units.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash occurred when a 2018 Dodge Ram driven by 59-year-old Gary Randall Carver, of Gordo, collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a teenager from Northport. Carver and a teen passenger in the Silverado were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The Northport teenager driving the Chevrolet and two other teen passengers were airlifted to area hospitals for treatment.

Officials then said three people were transported from the scene, with help from two EMS helicopters, while two people were pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
