Free Showers, Laundry For Those Impacted By Weekend Flooding

Resources are available for those impacted by flooding from Tropical Storm Claudette over the weekend in Northport and Tuscaloosa County.

NORTHPORT, AL — Free showers and access to laundry equipment is available in Northport for those impacted by flooding and storms over the weekend.

On Wednesday, the Alabama Baptist State Convention's Disaster Relief team, along with Northport Baptist Church and the Central-West Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross began providing showers, washers and dryers for those in need at Northport Baptist.

The church is located at 1004 Main Avenue in Northport.

Organizers said washers and dryers will be available from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m., while showers will be available from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Detergent and toiletries will be provided if needed.

Other aid services

Tuscaloosa County EMA says the Compassion Coalition has teams that will be coming out to assist with tree cutting, debris removal, mucking out, moving belongings to storage and tarping roofs.

To request help, call the United Way at 211 by Friday, June 25 at 5 p.m. to get on the list.


Volunteer opportunities

Those wishing to volunteer or donate in Northport can visit Northport Baptist Church or call (630)-788-6692. Christian Ministry Services at 3880 Watermelon Road is also accepting clothing donations.

Bottled water donations can be dropped off at Church of the Highlands at 721 Rice Mine Road.
