Kentuck's Free June Art Night Set For This Evening

NORTHPORT, AL — Kentuck Art Center will host its free June Art Night Thursday night from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The June installment will feature an exhibit titled "The Mystic Cords of Memory," and will also include open artists’ studios, live music in the courtyard, extended Gallery Shop hours, and pop-up shops from local vendors.

The art on display will feature images of snake handling, church services, school days, and formative moments geared toward providing a glimpse into the past for viewers.

Artists included in the exhibition are: Maurice Cook, Theresa Gloster, Jessie Lavon, Ruth Robinson, Dorothy Shelby, and Jim Weaver.

Dr. Daniel Potts will also give a performance and artist talk.

Potts is a neurologist, author, educator, and champion of those living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias and their care partners. His first song and poem performance will begin at 5:45 p.m., before an introduction of the different painters in the museum gallery at 6 p.m.
