Northridge High Golfer Qualifies For U.S. Junior Amateur
Rising junior Trace Bracknell finished first with-2 at the Country Club of Birmingham to qualify for 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Northridge High School golfer won big on Wednesday and will soon compete against the best amateur golfers in the world at the 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur in Pinehurst, North Carolina, July 19-25.
NHS rising junior Trace Bracknell finished in first place at his qualifying site in Birmingham on Wednesday, going -2 over 18 holes to finish with a 69 and edge out Hogan Ingram of Rome, Georgia and Hoover's Hayden Carner for the top spot.
Bracknell was the only Tuscaloosa-area golfer competing in the regional qualifier, which featured mostly Alabama talent, but did include golfers from Mexico and South Africa. Qualifying consists of 18 holes played by competitors at 54 sites from June 2 - July 1.

The 2021 U.S. Junior Amateur, which will be played at The Country Club of North Carolina's Dogwood and Cardinal courses in Pinehurst, will host 264 competitors when the tournament kicks off. Qualifying for the prestigious tournament, which is organized by the United States Golf Association is open to any male amateur golf who has not turned 19 years old by July 24 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 4.4.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 U.S. Junior Amateur was canceled, with the last winner being Preston Summerhays of Scottsdale, Arizona in 2019.
