Update: Flooding Persists Around Northport As Roads Clear Up
Here are the latest updates and road closures as heavy rain and flash flooding impact parts of West Alabama.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Heavy rain continues to move over much of the state, as the latest round spurred flash flooding in areas across the Tuscaoosa metro. Northern Tuscaloosa County, with its many low-lying, flood-prone areas, saw extensive impacts to traffic, as numerous roads remain closed. Thankfully, no damage to homes or businesses from flooding has been reported as of the publication of this story.
(7 p.m.) Many roads previously closed Friday due to flooding concerns have been reopened, while Curt Cunningham Road remains closed due to washout conditions. The dirt road is a fairly busy cut-through road for many from Alabama Highway 171 to Rue Road.
As of the publication of this story, the road was closed at its entrance from Highway 171, while still somewhat accessible from Rue Road until the Carroll's Creek bridge. The creek rapidly rose as heavy rain pounded the area and made the conditions on the road impassable. Along with Curt Cunningham Road, Holly Springs Road will also be closed for the entire weekend to allow conditions to improve.

Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management also said Harless Road and Old Fayette Road between Brady Montgomery Road and Traweek Road are closed due to flooding, with Hobson Cut Off Road washed out.

In Clear Creek Colony, which connects to both Rose Boulevard and Highway 43, the neighborhood's Carroll Street saw substantial flooding, with one resident's backyard shed partially submerged by the rising Carroll's Creek.

(12 p.m.) The busiest area flooded thus far has been Alabama Highway 171, just downhill from the W.G. Sullivan Lumber Company's sawmill and lumber yard.
This was the result of Tilly Branch becoming swollen, along with the large pond it feeds into, causing water to reportedly get as high as 3-4 feet over the roadway.

County public works crews had both lanes of Highway 171 blocked off, as traffic was diverted on Bone Camp Road and Mormon Road. The area has been drenched over the last week, but ABC 33/40's James Spann reported that the Bone Camp Road area received 4.65 inches of rain this morning.
Roughly three miles from the Tilly Branch flood, water from Wards Mill Creek also covered a large part of Jackson Trace Road near Lee Drive, forcing the county to close the road as rain came down at one of its hardest points of the day.
Closer to Highway 43 in Northport, other places of low elevation also saw water rise over the roads, with Patch confirming two potentially dangerous spots on Homeplace Road.
Other areas of concern reported by the Tuscaloosa County Public Works Department
