TUSCALOOSA, AL — West Alabama and a large portion of the state could see severe weather during the middle of the upcoming week, as local officials stress having an emergency plan in place before it's too late.

According to the latest models from the National Weather Service forecast office in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area is currently under an "enhanced risk" for tornadoes, damaging winds up to 60 mph and half-dollar size hail.

While rain and thunderstorms will be likely Monday and Tuesday, forecasters predict Tuscaloosa can expect to see the heaviest potential impacts Wednesday afternoon into the evening hours.
