Suspects Charged After Chase Results In Crash On McFarland Blvd.

Here's the latest after one person was injured and four vehicles damaged when a police pursuit resulted in a Wednesday morning wreck.

TUSCALOOSA, AL ? Two suspects have been charged and identified following a police pursuit that ended in a multi-vehicle crash on McFarland Boulevard, before the pair exited the stolen vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

The driver, 21-year-old Keron Jackson, was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property, felony attempting to elude and felony leaving the scene of an accident with injuries. The passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Shania Monae Robinson, was also charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and felony attempting to elude police.

Patch reported earlier Wednesday when the Tuscaloosa Police Department said officers attempted to stop the stolen white Toyota Camry at 8:39 a.m. near the intersection of 15th Street East and McFarland Boulevard. Jackson was reported to be weaving in and out of traffic before crashing at the intersection of James I. Harrison Parkway and McFarland Boulevard.

One person was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and four vehicles, including the stolen Camry, were damaged.

TPD then said in the moments after the crash, Jackson and Robinson exited the Camry and ran behind restaurants in the area near the Interstate 59/20 ramps. They were taken into custody a short time later.

The occupants of a stolen vehicle that crashed during a pursuit Wednesday morning are in custody and facing multiple felony charges.

TPD officers attempted to stop the driver of a white Toyota Camry at 8:39 a.m. while near the
intersection of 15th Street East and McFarland Boulevard. The driver fled, weaving in and out of
traffic before running the light at James I. Harrison Parkway, crossing the median of McFarland
Boulevard and crashing. Four vehicles, including the suspect vehicle, were damaged. The Camry
had recently been reported stolen out of Georgia.

Suspect Keron Jackson, 21, and passenger Shania Monae Robinson, 18, both fled the vehicle and
ran behind nearby businesses. They were quickly taken into custody and interrogated at TPD
headquarters before they were transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

Paramedics were called to the scene to check the occupants of the other vehicles involved in the
crash. One person was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Information regarding potential charges will be released as the investigation continues.

Robinson,18, of Tuscaloosa, was charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and felony
attempting to elude. Both may face additional charges from surrounding law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues.
