Tide's Jaden Shackelford Enters NCAA Transfer Portal: Report
Alabama basketball will reportedly be without a key offensive contributor next season after Jaden Shackelford confirmed his departure.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Crimson Tide men's basketball will be without a key contributor from last year after news that junior guard Jaden Shackelford has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
First reported by Jeff Goodman of Stadium, the media outlet said Shackelford has put his name in the transfer portal while also keeping open the possibility of trying his stock in the NBA Draft. His teammate, Josh Primo, also announced his intentions this week to forego the rest of his eligibility and try his hand in the NBA Draft.
A native of Hesperia, California, the sophomore played in all 33 of the Crimson Tide's games during the 2020 season, starting all but one after he voluntarily gave up his starting spot in the lineup on Senior Night.

Shackelford led the Crimson Tide in scoring average on the season — 14 points per game —while also grabbing the top spot for free throw percentage (.756) and field goals made (154). His performance during the 2020-2021 campaign also earned him the honor of being named SEC Second Team All-Conference.
Perhaps his best performance of the season would come in late December when Shackelford was named the SEC's Player of the Week following a 26-point performance against Eastern Tennessee State University.

His contributions also would be crucial in helping the Tide to an SEC Championship and Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament last year on its way to a 26-7 overall record.
During his freshman season, Shackelford averaged 15 points per game and went on to be named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
