Tuscaloosa To Accept Toy Donations For Parking Ticket Fines
The initiative will begin Wednesday, Nov. 18 and will pay of $18 in fines for each toy valued at more than $10.

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — City of Tuscaloosa officials on Friday announced that beginning next week, residents can pay off $18 in overtime parking fees with a toy donation to Toys for Tots.

City spokesperson Richard Rush said in a press release that toys valued at $10 or more will satisfy a $18 parking ticket, while toys valued at $20 or more will be accepted in place of two $18 parking tickets.
“Toys for Tots donations in lieu of parking tickets is a great way we can be innovative in our community and make a difference,” Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox said.

Participants are asked to bring their toys to Tuscaloosa Municipal Court at 2122 6th St. between Nov. 18 and Dec. 14.
The city also requests a receipt for purchase or a price tag on the toy showing the value at $10 or more.
