Tuscaloosa Cancels Holidays On The River For Rest Of Season
The city of Tuscaloosa on Tuesday announced it will official forego plans to re-open Holidays on the River due to the rise in virus cases.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Tuscaloosa city officials have opted to forego the remainder of the season for Holidays on the River, due to continued community spreading of the coronavirus resulted in increased hospitalizations. The holiday event kicked off in late November with added public health restrictions, but was barely open a week before an employee shortage within the city due to coronavirus protocols prompted what was initially a temporary closure.

Holidays on the River was scheduled to be open until Jan. 18, 2021, but Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox announced that due to the local rise in virus cases, the City’s Incident Command team has made the decision not to reopen the skating rink and amphitheater this season.

Skate passes that have already been purchased will be refunded. The city says pass holders with questions or inquires can email kday@tuscaloosa.com. Additionally, the city said any private events that were scheduled to be held at the rink will also be canceled and deposits will be refunded.
