TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Commission will have its regular meeting Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. in the bottom floor of the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse.

Here are the top 3 stories I'll be following ...

  1. The Commission will vote on a settlement in the case of Jarred Twomey vs. Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, which involved a Texas A&M student who was arrested for public intoxication in 2016 when visiting Tuscaloosa for a football game. Twomey claimed excessive force by a county jail detention officer resulted in a laceration on his eyebrow that required stitches, along with a concussion that required multiple doctor’s visits. 2. Tuscaloosa County School System Superintendent Keri Johnson will update the Commission on the ongoing access road project for the new Northport Intermediate School. The project is slated for completion before the start of the 2021-2022 school year in August. Check out my prior coverage here. (More on Patch)
  3. District 2 Commissioner Jerry Tingle and District 4's Reginald Murray will both present project updates for efforts covered under the American Rescue Plan.
