Tuscaloosa County Schools System: Assistant Principals Named For Northport Intermediate & Vance Elementary

TCSS is proud to introduce two new Assistant Principals for the upcoming school year. 

Dr. Jesse Sartain will serve as Assistant Principal at Northport Intermediate School. Dr. Sartain is a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School and The University of Alabama. She began her career in education at Northport Elementary School, where she taught kindergarten and first grade. She also served Tuscaloosa City Schools as the Interventionist for Arcadia Elementary and the Reading Coach for Rock Quarry Elementary. Dr. Sartain also taught as adjunct faculty in The University of Alabama’s College of Education. 

Mrs. Candace Cherry will serve as Assistant Principal at Vance Elementary School. Mrs. Cherry has 23 years of experience in education, with 16 of those as a collaborative special educator at Matthews Elementary School. Mrs. Cherry has most recently served as Reading Specialist at Faucett-Vestavia Elementary. Mrs. Cherry holds degrees from The University of Alabama and The University of West Alabama.
