Tuscaloosa Firefighters Rescue Puppy From 11th Street House Fire

Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on 11th Street Wednesday and rescued a puppy from inside the residence.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue lived up to its name during a Wednesday afternoon rescue of a puppy from a structure fire on 11th Street.

TFR Public Information Officer Holly Whigham told Patch that three people were at the residence when they smelled smoke, realized there was a fire and exited the home.

"We received the call at 2:28 and arrived to find smoke showing at the residence," she said. "The residents alerted the firefighters there was a puppy inside and crews were able to locate it and get it out safely."

The fire was out shortly before 3 p.m., Whigham said, but not before the home sustained extensive smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
