Tuscaloosa Police Pursuit Ends With Woman Facing List Of Charges
The pursuit moved through west Tuscaloosa Wednesday evening and ended on Alabama Highway 69 South, near the Kauloosa Road intersection.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police say a woman is facing a long list of charges after leading officers on a pursuit that eventually ended on Alabama Highway 69 South Wednesday evening.
According to Tuscaloosa County Jail records, 25-year-old Carolyn Wells is facing the following charges and was given the corresponding bond amounts.
- Driving without a license ($400)
- Possession of marijuana 2 ($600)
- No proof of insurance ($500)
- Driving while license revoked ($600)
- Attempting to elude police ($1,000)
- Resisting arrest ($1,000)
- Tampering with evidence ($500)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia ($500)
TPD spokesperson Stephanie Taylor said an officer was patrolling in the area of Greensboro Avenue and 35th Street Wednesday evening and attempted to make a traffic stop on a Toyota Camry. The officer reported that the driver refused to stop, continuing south onto 10th Avenue, through a gas station parking lot at Hargrove Road and 10th Avenue. She then drove through several neighborhood streets and main roads in west Tuscaloosa.

Taylor went on to say the pursuit crossed Dinah Washington Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Fosters Ferry to Washington Square, Joe Mallisham Parkway, back to MLK and on to Interstate 59/20, before exiting at Moundville, past Oscar Baxter Drive and onto Alabama Highway 69 South, where they eventually stopped near the Kauloosa Road intersection.
During the chase, officers observed the driver of the Camry throwing items from the car window while on the interstate, with investigators later recovering marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A passenger was also reportedly in the vehicle with Wells, but was not taken into custody once the pursuit was over.
