Tuscaloosa Woman Identified After Fatal Greensboro Avenue Crash
Police have released the identity of a Tuscaloosa woman killed in a Sunday evening crash on Greensboro Avenue.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — Police have identified a Tuscaloosa woman killed in a Sunday night wreck on Greensboro Avenue as Karen Smith Barr, 50.
Barr was pronounced dead at the scene and another person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash, which occurred at 7:25 p.m. on Greensboro Avenue and 43rd Street, near Academy Sports on Skyland Boulevard.
As Patch previously reported, the Tuscaloosa Police Department said Barr was driving south on Greensboro Avenue and was making a left turn onto 43rd Street when her vehicle struck a sedan that was traveling north on Greensboro Avenue.

Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service paramedics then worked to extricate the 26-year-old victim from the sedan before she was taken by ambulance to DCH Regional Medical Center.
TPD said while her injuries are serious, they do not seem to be life-threatening at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
