UWA Athletic Director Bobby Wallace Announces Retirement

The former UWA football coach has served as athletic director since August 2018 and led numerous initiatives to move programs forward.

LIVINGSTON, AL- University of West Alabama Athletic Director Bobby Wallace announced on Monday that he is retiring and will step away from his role on May 31.

  • Kent Partridge, a 1983 UWA graduate who has served as deputy athletic director for communications, has been named as Wallace's replacement, per recommendation of the outgoing athletic director and former football coach. His first day on the job will be June 1.
  • Wallace was named athletic director in August 2018, which came after a 40-year career as a college football coach, including at UWA from 2006-2010. He is also tied for the most national title wins by a Division II football coach, with three, from his time at the University of North Alabama.
  • UWA praised Wallace for his efforts as he leaves the university with a balanced budget and facility upgrades underway at Tiger Stadium and Pruitt Hall Gymnasium, along with plans for a new track and soccer multipurpose facility on the Livingston campus.

Incoming UWA Athletic Director Kent Partridge: "Coach Wallace has done tremendous things for our department and university over the last three years and he will probably never know how much it meant to me to have him as a mentor. He is truly a legend in collegiate athletics and its my honor to try maintain the course he has set for us."
